Despite Challenges, Survey Finds Strong Commitment to Technology Investment for People Strategies

HANOVER, Md., April 29, 2019 – Allegis Group, the global leader in talent solutions, today released a report that finds 75 percent of 1,000 human resources (HR) decision-makers believe their need for new technology puts them at a disadvantage in attracting and retaining talent. Understanding how innovations contribute value and impact is essential, and putting those innovations to work requires a focus on thoughtful implementation. It is not easy, however, as 94 percent of HR decision-makers experience challenges in keeping up with the latest talent technology trends and developments, and 93 percent find challenges in implementing new solutions and capabilities.

These findings, along with examples of technologies influencing all facets of the employee lifecycle, plus survey data on user adoption and insight on strategies focused on candidate and employee success, are available for immediate download in “Smart Power: A Glance at Evolving Talent Technologies.”

HR Decision-Makers See a Path Forward

To succeed in a world where critical skills are scarce, organizations are committed to ramping up their investment in new technologies focused on talent acquisition to help them achieve business goals. Specifically, 95 to 97 percent of HR decision-makers believe their organizations could better achieve business goals by increasing their investment in new technologies associated with talent acquisition; talent evaluation, selection, and onboarding; and employee development and retention.

Additionally, at least 85 percent of companies plan to increase their investment in talent technology over the next two years, demonstrating a commitment to embracing a world of innovation to better attract and retain talent, make smarter decisions and stand out from competitors.

  • Talent Attraction and Engagement: With too many people at the top of the recruiting funnel, today’s employers seek solutions that identify, attract and engage the right talent – quickly and effectively. Among 1,000 HR decision-makers:
    • 97 percent agree that increasing their organizations’ investment in technologies related to talent attraction and engagement would drive business success.
    • 88 percent plan to increase such investments over the next two years.
    • Notable examples: programmatic advertising, social search, conversational AI and writing analysis
  • Evaluation and Onboarding: Technology innovations are helping employers engage candidates and new employees in ways that are easy, effective and even fun. Among 1,000 HR decision-makers:
    • 96 percent agree that increasing their organizations’ investment in technologies related to talent evaluation, selection, and onboarding would help them achieve their business goals.
    • 85 percent plan to increase such investments over the next two years.
    • Notable examples: video assessments, bias-free screening and competitive challenge assessments, and automated onboarding technology
  • Employee Development and Retention: Employers recognize technologies related to employee development and retention as tools to boost the employee experience and make their organizations more attractive to future employees. Among 1,000 HR decision-makers:
    • 95 percent say increasing their organizations’ investment in such technologies would help them achieve their business goals.
    • 85 percent anticipate increased spending on these technology tools in the next two years.
    • Notable examples: microlearning and learning experience platforms
