Employees Make Time to Feed Families, Honor Veterans, Lift Spirits, and Provide Opportunity for Others

As we wrap up the year, many of our teams around the world stepped away from the office to give back to organizations whose missions exemplify our values, drive positive change, and align with key areas of our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), such as education and strengthening the workforce. Here are just a few of the ways employees came together to serve others.

On the other side of the globe from our corporate headquarters in Maryland, Allegis Group teams in the Asia-Pacific region partnered with Infant Jesus Homes and Children’s Center (IJHCC) to assemble backpacks in anticipation of the school year beginning in January 2018. IJHCC helps children from diverse racial and religious backgrounds feel supported and prepared as they grow in motivation, maturity, and confidence.

Here in the United States, a group of recently hired Allegis Group employees participated in an afternoon of service with Second Chance, which is a nonprofit that provides people, materials, and the environment with a second chance. By salvaging usable materials from deconstructed buildings and homes, the organization sells goods through its retail space, using funds to provide job training and workforce development for those with employment obstacles in the Baltimore, Maryland region.

In addition, Allegis Group’s Payroll Tax department supported the Happy Helpers for the Homeless Charity shoebox project. This charity brings love and necessities directly to homeless and poverty-stricken men, women, and children in the Baltimore area. Our employees assembled boxes to help people experiencing homelessness during the holiday season this year. Goods inside each box included things like personal hygiene products and food, as well as small toys, books, and school supplies for children, along with personal notes of encouragement and hope.

In another local initiative, our company Aerotek teamed up with the Living Classrooms Foundation for a Thanksgiving food drive for families in Baltimore City. They prepared 100 kits, which included all sides necessary for a full Thanksgiving meal, and donated 100 turkeys in time for the November holiday. The Living Classrooms Foundation was able to give away over 425 complete Thanksgiving meals to families in Baltimore City, increasing their reach by over 100 meals from 2016.

Our company Allegis Global Solutions (AGS) recently facilitated training for the Back on My Feet Baltimore Alumni Association. Team members discussed pursuing career growth, goal planning, and navigating difficult conversations in the workplace. All alumni are ready to start their 2018 with a running start thanks to dedicated volunteers at AGS. Back on My Feet is a national organization operating in 12 major cities across the United States. It combats homelessness through the power of running, community support, and essential employment and housing resources.

Finally, employees from Allegis Group company TEKsystems gathered over a weekend to help place wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery through a coordinated effort with Wreathes Across America. The wreath-laying initiative is designed to remember and honor those who’ve fallen and those who’ve served, as well as teach children the value of freedom and what it means to give the ultimate sacrifice. This small act goes a long way toward keeping the memory of our veterans alive.

“At Allegis Group, we will always view our CSR commitment as a central part of our legacy,” said Megan Waranch, Allegis Group’s CSR Lead. “As we build a special company, we also strive to build a better world. It’s humbling to see how eager our employees around the globe and across our companies are to provide opportunity to others and rally together to make a difference.”
