Celebrating 35 Years of Serving Others

Central to Allegis Group’s core values, we pride ourselves on serving others. So as we celebrate our 35th anniversary and decades of making an impact in the communities in which we work and live, we wanted to share some recent examples of ways our team members continue to make a difference for others. We are incredibly humbled by how involved our employees are and for the opportunities that bring us together.

 

Beginning in sunny Phoenix, Arizona, 25 Aerotek volunteers recently constructed a shed for a new homeowner thanks to a partnership with Habitat for Humanity. As one of Allegis Group’s primary community partners, Habitat works to eliminate substandard housing through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; advocating for fair housing policies; and providing training and resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. The organization clearly exemplifies our values and drives positive change, as Aerotek Assistant Controller David Kraus notes. “Over the course of the three hours of building, there were countless high-fives, fist-pumps, and laughs exchanged,” Kraus said. “Events like these are so important to our community, and I left so honored and thankful for the opportunity to give back. I can’t wait for the next event!”

 

Across the country in Orlando, Florida, TEKsystems participated in a PaintFest event with the Hospital for Foundation Art, whose mission is to donate art to brighten the walls of healthcare facilities around the world. During this event, over 200 employees worked on 26 murals that will be delivered to different care facilities in cities including Atlanta, New York, and Las Vegas. The completed paintings decorate typically stark wall, bringing hope, healing, and brief reprieve to hundreds of patients, family members, and medical staff professionals.

 

Closer to our corporate headquarters in Maryland, Allegis Global Solutions (AGS) took advantage of their annual meeting to give back. Attendees worked with over 15 organizations across the city of Baltimore during their time together, including Habitat for Humanity, the Maryland Book Bank, Boys Hope, Girls Hope, and the Ronald McDonald House. Projects included landscaping for recently built Habitat homes, packaging smoke detectors for the Red Cross, and cleaning up the St. Francis Neighborhood Center. Vice President Steve Schumacher perfectly summed up the importance of the day, speaking specifically about his painting experience at interactive children’s museum Port Discovery noting, “We know thousands of kids come through here, so we are happy to serve and give back to the children of Baltimore. We’re a Baltimore-based company, so we want to spend time within this market, serving the people here. We just have a spirit of service.”

 

AGS’ commitment to service is also evident in Singapore, where employees joined forces with Allegis Group Asia Pacific (APAC) employees and Junior Achievement (JA), an organization that inspires and prepares youth to succeed in the global economy. Team members ran JA’s Career Success Program at a local high school, exploring workplace skills employers seek and job-readiness tools like resume writing and interviewing techniques. “My experience with Junior Achievement was amazing,” said AGS Supply Chain Manager Caitriona Evans. “I was very happy to share my knowledge and tips in my area of expertise. I would like to hope we made a great impact on that day and the students seemed to have had a lot of fun too.” AGS Talent Acquisition Business Partner Aida Karaki added, “I felt privileged to show the students that we care about their future. I was happy to give back to the younger generation!”

 

Keeping the spirit of service alive, Allegis Group APAC sealed its partnership with Hope Worldwide for the second year in a row. Hope Worldwide provides service to unmet community needs, people affected by disaster, and those who do not have access to healthcare. Two hundred and fifty team members from across the Asia-Pacific region donated plastic building-block toys to support the organization’s Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics (STEM) initiative that provides robotics programs in 27 cities and empowers youth with problem-solving, engineering, and basic programming skills.

 

Once again taking responsibility to make a difference across the globe, Allegis Group offices across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) continued fundraising for mental health awareness. Originally stemming from their Dubai office, the #JourneyIntoTheLight initiative was inspired by personal stories and supports the MIND charity in the United Kingdom. Team members recently embarked on their own “journey into the light” to symbolize the challenge and suffering those with mental health illnesses face daily by cycling the equivalent distance from Dubai to London, which is 5,500 kilometers (3,418 miles). Team members regularly hop on stationary bikes at work, cycle at their gyms or outdoors, and log their miles. The team is on target complete their ride by the end of July, bringing light to mental health issues and proving how we can come out on the other side in a favorable way by working together.

 

Employees from Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA) also took part in a service initiative, teaming up with GLIDE in San Francisco. Volunteers assembled sandwiches, bagging them up with other goodies like fruits, vegetables, and snacks for local community members. The day of giving back worked to fulfill GLIDE's mission to create inclusive, just, and loving communities while breaking the cycles of poverty and marginalization. MLA’s Director of Human Resources Jacqueline Wandrey noted, “I had the pleasure of volunteering Saturday morning at GLIDE with a group of coworkers from MLA, AGS, and TEKsystems.  During the time we were there, we did food prep and bagged lunches for the homeless in San Francisco.  It was a great experience and one that I will do again.”

 

Finally, leaders took a break during MarketSource’s annual meeting in Alpharetta, Georgia to make 600 paracord bracelets for Operation Gratitude. The organization sends care packages filled with entertainment, hygiene, handmade items, non-perishable snacks, and personal letters of appreciation to U.S. troops, first responders, veterans, military families, wounded heroes, and their caregivers. The bracelets assembled will provide a potentially life-saving means of towing up to 550 pounds, giving deployed service members an immediate way to transport broken equipment back to base for repairs. In another service initiative for Operation Gratitude, the team at Aerotek subsidiary EASi took advantage of their Global Summit in Orlando to create 600 care kits with handwritten letters, paracord bracelets, and teddy bears for children of those deployed. In a few hours, the EASi team prepared all items needed for shipment overseas.

 

“At Allegis Group, it’s important to maintain our commitment to corporate social responsibility [CSR],” said Megan Waranch, Allegis Group’s CSR lead. “Constantly working toward the goal of making the communities around us better also makes us stronger as a company. It’s amazing to see how eager our employees are to provide for those in need and fully immerse themselves in a day of service.”

 

These are only a few examples of how Allegis Group takes part in CSR efforts around the globe, partnering with many different organizations along the way. Our support for the communities we live and work in is endless, and the volunteering we partake in will always continue.
