Contributing to the communities in which we work and live is a central part of the Allegis Group legacy and a responsibility that our employees live each and every day. Through activism and dedication, we’ve built a culture that celebrates our passion to serve while protecting the environment, and maintaining an ethical and diverse workforce. Our newly released 2016 Corporate Social Responsibility Report demonstrates how Allegis Group employees around the world, including those from our network of specialized companies, are contributing in unique and meaningful ways. We’re pleased to narrate a snapshot of a few examples below.
At Allegis Group, we nurture relationships with community partners by offering a combination of financial support and volunteerism, providing individuals with life skills to reach their full potential, and offering career development and access to employment for underserved adults. We also support causes that employees are passionate about, ranging from local food banks and groups that combat homelessness, to nationally recognized organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, Special Olympics, and the Pat Tillman Foundation, as well as charities across communities in places ranging from Hong Kong and Singapore to Australia and beyond.
As an example, our company TEKsystems, which provides IT staffing solutions, IT talent management expertise, as well as managed, project-based, and outsourced IT services, actively funds Per Scholas, whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty by providing technology education, access, training, and job placement services to underserved communities across the nation. TEKsystems recruiters and account managers in those markets also lead resume building workshops, conduct mock interviews, and share exciting developments about IT and staffing with students.
Through other community initiatives, we provided professional attire to disadvantage students and adults through organizations like Dress for Success and CareerGear. Allegis Global Solutions, which delivers permanent and contingent workforce management solutions, talent advisory services, and integrated talent solutions, encouraged attendees of its annual Global Summit to pack extra suitcases full of clothing and accessories, resulting in the donation of overflowing moving and wardrobe boxes. MarketSource, which provides customized sales solutions and capabilities for retail and B2B customers, also donated 1,800 business professional clothing items and accessories to support urban youth through Year Up Atlanta.
Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Chicago office was similarly inspired to rally for change among young people. This legal search, recruiting, and flexible workforce service provider for lawyers and legal professionals engaged with Lawyers Lend-a-Hand, which focuses on increasing the pipeline of diverse lawyers-to-be, and even supported its Minds Matter program, which matches sophomores with mentors throughout their remaining high school years.
Heading outdoors, Aerotek’s inaugural “Aerotek in Action” volunteer day demonstrated our commitment to sustainability. More than 100 employees, contractors, and their friends and families across seven offices spent the day at three sites in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore areas. Our partnership with Living Classrooms Foundation enabled this successful day spent working on urban, natural, and maritime environments that serve as “living classrooms.”
Our companies are also working to change lives across the ocean. Allegis India partnered with EnAble India to help put 80 people with disabilities to work. The two entities also work together to provide interview and resume preparation, aptitude training, and a virtual job fair.
In addition, employees from Allegis Group EMEA have transformed how they drive their Corporate and Social Responsibility this year. Each office in the region supports local charities and participates in community-related projects and activities that have specific meaning for its people. This means that each person has an association with the work they’re involved in, which has helped to increase engagement, as well as the desire to get involved and make a difference for others less fortunate than themselves. There are too many charities and activities across the region to mention, but examples range from donating to food banks and gardening at a home for the elderly to volunteering in shelters for the homeless and helping refugees from war-torn countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.
Efforts to help and support others extend to our own employees, too. For example, TEKsystems oversees more than 50 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), in which employees engage in forums related to diversity and inclusion. Women@TEK, Pride@TEK (LGBT), Honor@TEK (Veterans), Abilities@TEK, and MulticulturalERG are among the employee-led resource groups. Similar types of diversity councils and groups exist across many of our other companies, and we’re pleased to report that MarketSource was selected out of 3,000 other Georgia-based companies as a Business Champion of Diversity Excellence. Through such demonstrated acts of diversity and inclusion efforts, we’re witnessing significantly improved morale and community relationships, as well as greater success with attracting and retaining top talent.
Not only are our employees good citizens in their community, but they’re also making environmentally responsible decisions to be good citizens here on Earth. As a company, we’ve sustained many “green” efforts such as recycling nearly one million pounds of shredded documents, which is the equivalent of saving over 11,600 trees. We also eliminated nearly 29,000 pounds of waste from entering our landfills through our partnership with Arrow Electronically, equating to the power consumption of 131 homes in a year. Annual Shred It! events and our first ever Asset Disposition Day complement such efforts, enabling Allegis Group employees to responsibly dispose of confidential documents, old household electronics, and more, making our initiatives not only great for our people but great for the environment, too.
As you can see from the above-listed examples, Corporate Social Responsibility is truly ingrained in the fabric of Allegis Group. Our 2016 report celebrates some of the amazing work that we are doing to serve others and embody an inclusive, environmentally conscious workforce. We hope that some of the activism we live as a corporation inspires you to similarly take action within your local and global communities, as well!
